Stiving to Better Par

Bobby Jones designed Augusta National to be "enjoyable for the average and at the same time testing for the expert player striving to better par.” Striving to Better Par transcends golf—it’s about continuous improvement and going beyond the standard to achieve more. It’s a mindset of always pushing further, working to become a better version of yourself, both on the course and in life.

For Wheaton Golf Co, this philosophy extends beyond the game. It’s grounded in the belief that we all have room to grow—in personal development, career or studies, relationships, health, and community impact.

Just like in golf, where every swing presents an opportunity to improve, life offers endless chances to learn and evolve. "Striving to Better Par" embodies resilience, growth, and a purposeful approach to every aspect of life.

Golf Colony

The Chicago Golf Club, located in Wheaton, IL, has a storied past as the oldest 18-hole golf course in the United States. Hiram Patrick farm in Wheaton, Illinois was transformed into a golf destination in 1892 with the establishment of a 18-hole course and clubhouse. The surrounding open farmland was then developed into a community of permanent homes and summer cottages, providing a space for golfers to live and enjoy the clean air of the country during the summer months. The area offered a perfect location for summer vacationing, golfing, and socializing. As the popularity of the club grew, the surrounding area and its members became known as the Chicago Golf Colony.

Our Golf Colony, is inspired by the rich history of Chicago Golf Club. Today, WGC strives to promote the significant role that the Chicago Golf Club and Wheaton, IL have played in the development and growth of the game of golf. WGC is dedicated to preserving the rich history and tradition of the club and the sport, and to ensuring that future generations of golf enthusiasts throughout the galaxy continue to appreciate the legacy of this iconic golf course and town.
